Wrinkle Relaxing Injections - Botox©

During your skin consultation, we may recommend winkle relaxing injections – Botox - to soften unwanted lines and wrinkles on the face. Wrinkle relaxing injections may be combined with other skin care treatments to further improve these lines.

The treatment used for wrinkle reduction is Botulinum Toxin Type A. It is a purified protein used to temporarily relax muscles helping to soften facial expression and reverse the signs of ageing. Wrinkle relaxing injections work by blocking impulses to the selected facial muscle to reduce the activity. This prevents creasing and results in a relaxed effect, both reducing the appearance of wrinkles and preventing the formation of wrinkles. This softens your features, making the face appear fresh and youthful. Botox has been used therapeutically for a range of medical uses since the 1980s.

We use exceptionally fine needles to target specific muscles. Typical areas treated are frown lines, laughter lines/crow’s feet, and horizontal forehead lines. Advanced areas of the lower face can also be treated resulting in a balanced, youthful appearance.

Hyperhidrosis

Botox can also be used to treat Hyperhidrosis – more commonly known as excessive sweating. This condition can affect a person’s confidence and affect the way they live their life – possibly avoiding social situations and certain clothing. Thankfully, we can resolve this condition using Botox. This is done by injecting Botox into the nerve that triggers the sweat gland, to temporarily stop this reaction.

Jawline Slimming and Teeth Grinding

Through dynamic movements of our jaw (chewing, talking, grinding etc), the masseter muscle can become enlarged, giving the appearance of a masculine jawline. A slimmer, softer jawline can be achieved with Botox by relaxing the activity in the masseter muscle, preventing it from tensing so strongly. If you suffer from grinding your teeth in the night resulting in pain, this treatment can help prevent this.

Headaches and Migraines

Tense muscles in the head can lead to painful headaches and migraines; Botox can help relieve this tension. The location of the injection depends on the individual but is typically injected around the frown and eye area to prevent frowning and squinting – a cause of tension in the head.

Gummy Smile

If your smile shows a lot of gum and this is not the desired effect you wish for, this can be treated with Botox rather than invasive surgery. The Botox is injected into the upper lip, relaxing the overactive muscle to stop it from rising too far over the gums when smiling. This treatment can not only result in a more flattering smile, but also make the face appear more balanced and the teeth appear straighter. This treatment may also be combined with dermal fillers to achieve the beautiful smile you desire.
